Students, families, teachers, and administrators gathered together to celebrate another successful year of Leader in Me at Brown Elementary School. Parents were entertained by the school's chorus and step team as well as given helpful hints on ways to "Sharpen Their Saw" with yummy healthy treats included! We are proud of our young leaders at Brown Elementary School. Over 450 immersion students, teachers, parents, and administrators gathered together at Simpson Elementary to thank Governor Markell for his support of our immersion program through his World Language Initiative. This initiative has helped to create the district's Chinese and Spanish immersion, on-line World Language learning in our middle schools, and proficiency based teaching in our high school World Language classes. Thank you Governor Markell and all of our amazing teachers, students, and administrators responsible for building our World Language experiences in CR! Our school, our family....After receiving news of Von's diagnosis, Von's family, including his brother who will be graduating high school next month, Welch administrators, and his teacher visited the hospital to hold a special kindergarten graduation. In lieu of monetary donations/support to the family, they are requesting that donations in Von's name be made to the St. Baldrick's Foundation (www.stbaldricks.org). St. Baldrick's Foundation does pediatric cancer research. Von's type of cancer is T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma. Anyone interested in following his story on Facebook can search #teamVonninjawarrior. Frear Gives Back club participated in q Hair donation event on Thursday, May 12th. With the help of "Hello Gorgeous Hair Salon" students, parents, and staff donated a total of 207 inches of hair.
We are so proud of our 2015-2016 Senior Honor Society students. After a keynote speech by the 2016-2017 District Teacher of the Year, Melissa Rapp, students were presented their honor cords.
